  • Yes. Women seeking an elective prenatal ultrasound with us are required to have already been receiving treatment with a healthcare provider for prenatal care and that you have been given an established due date (EDD) by your Clinician. We do not contact your doctor prior or post scan since this is an elective procedure.

We encourage you to include them in a discussion of all aspects of your pregnancy, including if they have any objection to you having an elective ultrasound.

Please note, at no time is this elective ultrasound to be used in place of a complete diagnostic ultrasound.

  • Certainly not. Not in any shape, way, or form. While we offer a unique and memorable experience through elective ultrasounds, it is important to understand that these sessions do not replace the medical ultrasounds provided by your healthcare provider.

At Pacific Northwest Peeks, we specialize in capturing high-quality 3D/4D images and videos of your unborn baby, allowing you to witness their precious features and movements in a remarkable way. Our ultrasounds provide an incredible bonding experience for expectant parents, creating lasting memories to cherish.

However, it is crucial to emphasize that our services are purely elective and should absolutely not be considered a substitute for the comprehensive medical care provided by your healthcare provider. Medical ultrasounds conducted by trained medical professionals serve a vital diagnostic purpose, enabling them to monitor your baby's development, and ensure the overall well-being of both mother and child.

We strongly recommend that you continue to maintain regular appointments and communication with your medical provider throughout your pregnancy. They possess the expertise and knowledge to evaluate your health.

Pacific Northwest Peeks 3D/4D Ultrasound is committed to promoting the joy and wonder of seeing your baby before they are born. We are here to enhance your pregnancy journey by offering you a unique glimpse into your baby's world. However, our services should always be seen as an elective addition to your comprehensive prenatal care, rather than a replacement for it.

Thank you for choosing Pacific Northwest Peeks, and we look forward to providing you with a memorable ultrasound experience.

  • 2D scans are the traditional black and white images that are most common.

3D is a newer technology allowing to see depth in the ultrasound image

4D is the ability to watch the 3D image in real time.

HD LIVE is the newest technology which allows us to capture even clearer, sharper images and video. These images and videos are more defined, have a more realistic skin appearance, and have better resolution. Some people refer to this as 5D.

  • That depends on what you are looking to see. Many mothers like coming in multiple times, early on, 15-26 weeks, when they can see the baby as a whole, and then again at 25-34 weeks to see a more detailed face. Between 28 and 32 weeks, your baby develops more fat and gets a more defined face. After 34 weeks, it becomes more and more difficult to obtain good pictures since the baby is running out of room. However all babies are different and we have been successful in obtaining great images all the way up to 39 weeks.

  • At 16 weeks we can determine the gender with high accuracy, and if baby shows us, as early as 14 weeks.

Occasionally, baby is just not ready to show us their gender. If you are over 16 weeks and the gender is unable to be determined, a complimentary visit will be scheduled before you leave for a time over the next two weeks to re-check as part of our rescan-assurance.

What if I don’t want to know the gender or I am doing a gender reveal? No problem! This is something we commonly see. We will give you a heads up when we are going to be in that area during the ultrasound. We will keep it a secret during the exam. You can choose how you want the gender given to you for you to open at a later time. We have gender reveal envelopes in office for you to open when you choose or share with some else for your reveal!

  • It is our number one priority to obtain the absolute best images of your baby and make sure you are satisfied to the fullest. Most of the time we can get great images, but not always. We use top of the line ultrasound equipment to ensure this, however, some factors that determine the outcome of your ultrasound are out of our control such as: if baby is looking down towards the mama-to-be’s spine or if baby is laying against the placenta. Every baby scans differently depending on gestational age, location of your placenta, the amount and clarity of amniotic fluid surrounding your baby, the baby's position and the overall fetal environment.

We hope for you to always love your images, of whatever parts of the baby that can be seen.

If no 3D/4D images are obtained on our Mount Adams package, we offer our rescan-assurance at our discretion for one additional visit within the next 14 days at no cost. Our cancellation policy is applied to all rescans and any breaches in the cancellation policy for the rescan appointment will forfeit your rescan.

  • Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! This will help to ensure your amniotic fluid is clear as well as full. In addition to your regular hydration practices, we recommend adding extra hydration one-two weeks before your appointment. An ample amount of amniotic fluid is a key factor to getting the best images! There are many things out of our control such as the baby's position, amount of amniotic fluid, etc.

Prior to your appointment: In addition to hydration, you can drink some juice, eat a snack, or drink ice cold water 10-15 minutes before your appointment to get baby moving and active.

We discuss this topic more in depth with our appointment prep materials.

  • Yes, absolutely! We encourage you to share this special moment with friends and family if you want to. Based on experience, having a smaller group creates a more intimate, and personalized experience, focus is on mama-to-be, while a group creates more of a fun atmosphere where guests engage in conversation amongst themselves. Choose whatever sounds best to you! Children are welcome and we provide plenty of toys and books to keep them entertained. Our ultrasound room can comfortably seat 9 people, but more are welcome if they would like to stand and watch.

  • Double the fun! We have no additional charge for twins. Please notify us at time of booking that you have multiples to allows us to extend your appointment time to get adorable images of each baby! We suggest having your ultrasound performed between the 22 & 26 weeks of the pregnancy to obtain the best possible images. Multiples tend to run out of room sooner.
